A Star Shattered: The Rise & Fall & Rise of Wrestling Diva

A few notes to begin this review...
The reason for my fascination with the recent activities may seem odd to some, but she is a car-wreck, pure and simple.  It is tough to not give in to the temptation and slow down and take a look at the flaming wreckage.  One quick glance at her Twitter ramblings will make anyone curious as to what exactly is going on in her life.  I don't mean to disparage her, or her weight, or her addictions most importantly.  However, it is her complete lack of self awareness of those various issues that makes her so entertaining. And the most interesting thing about her Twitter account are the sycophants who follow her and send her messages.  Men(presumably) so desperate that they send her messages fawning over her and telling her how she's just as beautiful now as she was twenty years ago.  Simply amazing.  I'm actually brainstorming some ways to write about the psyche of these men. Anyways, on with the book.

This is $9.99 I will never get back so I hope this is worth it. You can read the preview on amazon.com and if you do, you will understand exactly why I HAD to review this. Just within the free preview she mentions 'giving a world class blow job' and blames her incarceration on Damien Darling, not on her own actions. Unbelievable.

Prologue
- It starts off with her in jail. A non-linear narrative! Is this Slaughterhouse-Five? As previously mentioned, she says that Damien Darling, her indy sugar daddy for those who don't know, 'put her there'. It wasn't her fault or anything.
- Damien was 'one of the sexiest men [she's] ever been with. The sex was so good that she couldn't let him go.
- She blasts him for having a messy apartment and having a full time job that only paid him $10.50 an hour. Yes, she actually insults him for holding down a normal job. Fucking detestable.
- It was his psychological abuse that made her get arrested however many times it was she was locked up.

Chapter One
- It starts with a bible quote. Matthew 10:16 Very classy. A true god fearing woman.
- Her upbringing in Jersey. She was daddy's little girl.
- Her drunk father named her after the brand of vodka he was drinking in the delivery room, Tamara.
- Became a big fan at age 7. She says that wrestling was like crack to a 7 year old. There's a joke in here somewhere.
- Credits Wendi Richter for inspiring her to get into wrestling.
- Fell out of wrestling fandom when she turned 13 and met a 21 year old man at an AWA show in Asbury Park, the 'one and only Shawn Michaels'. She doesn't expound on this statement at all. Does that mean she just had a crush on him or did a 21 year old HBK fuck a 13 year old Tammy?

Chapter Two
- High school now. Puberty hits. Captain of the cheerleading team. She puts herself over as basically being an amazing student as well as being involved in several after school activities.
- She was a "goody two shoes nerd. But I was a HOT goody two shoes nerd. Blond hair, big time flirt, with the shortest cheerleading skirt on the entire team. Yeah, I made sure of that".
- Guys loved her but she didn't have any boyfriends because she was so hot that she intimidated all of them. She was the last virgin left in her school. However, she makes sure to note that it was purely by choice, not because of lack of offers. So the high school boys offered to fuck her but were too intimidated to ask her out? Doesn't make any sense.
- At age 17 she goes to see an indy show. Spots Candido and thought he was hot and was determined to take him home, despite being a virgin. She gets his autograph and his phone number.
- She offers to drive him home from the show. She takes him home to her house.
"Ok, yeah, I blew him. But no sex. What kind of a girl do you think I am?" She was in love.
- They finally fuck, despite both being virgins. June 3, 1990, she notes the date. She once again reiterates that she was a virgin by choice.
- Wrestling was Candido's first love, weightlifting his second, and now Tammy was his third.
- She now feels the need to explain their sex in detail. I'm just going to quote E.L. James herself here:
For two people who really had no idea what they were doing in the sex department, it was really good. Our bodies moved together at the right pace with the right rhythm. It was only the missionary position, but it was perfect. It lasted about five minutes and it was the very first time I had an orgasm because of someone else. I had been masturbating for about six years, so I had them on my own, but none of my boyfriends ever got me to the point of no return. Granted, there was plenty of finger action and oral play, but let’s face it: teenage boys are pretty clueless as to what it takes to get a girl to that point.
But Chris and I were just physically made for each other. There was never a time when I didn’t have an orgasm from having sex with him. He was also the best kisser I had ever had—and I had kissed quite a few frogs looking for my prince. So that was it. June 2 became our anniversary, and June 3 became our “fucking anniversary,” pun intended.
The next day in school, I walked around like a proud peacock, bragging to all my girls that I wasn’t the “last American virgin” anymore. They laughed at it, because most of them lost their virginity by the 10th grade. So maybe I was a prude in a way, but I could give a blowjob that could win awards! So there!

- Fucking detestable this woman is. And to think that this is the side of the story she WANTS you to hear.
- Since she was such a genius, she notes that she had a full academic scholarship to Miami(FL) to study be a doctor.
- She breaks her father's heart by leaving the scholarship in order to follow Chris to Memphis.

Chapter Three
- Nancy Sullivan smartened her up the first time she ever accompanied Candido to the ring.
- Meets Eddie Gilbert and he hits on her.
- Candido gets booked in Memphis and Tammy reveals that the real reason he got booked was because Eddie Gilbert and Jerry Lawler wanted to fuck seventeen year old Tammy. She claims that Lawler even admitted to such in his book. Is that true?
- Sabu was also in Memphis at the time. She makes a weird non sequitur in saying Sabu is 'very respectful towards women'. Okay?

Chapter Four
- This isn't nearly as fun as watching her fart and have pilled up sex. Hopefully it picks up with some similar stories of pilled up sex with Shawn Michaels, farting optional.
- Chris and Tammy head to Smoky Mountain. She transfers to UT after having had a 4.0 at Monmouth in Pre-Med, because she's such a genius as she continues to note. She was planning to become a plastic surgeon.
- Corny pitches her the idea of her eventual gimmick, that of a 'northern, bitchy college student.'
"WHOA Nelly! Slow down just a minute," she protests. What thrilling prose!
- She says that Brian Lee was "dumb as a box of rocks and couldn't cut a promo if his life depended on it." Not sure what the bulldozer did to get buried here.
- She, once again, talks about how smart she is and why she was such a great student. She has a photographic memory.
- She does her first promo and Cornette has his next big star! Not just the next big star but the biggest heel in the company.
- She tells a story of getting attacked by a 400 pound woman and having to be held back by Lee to prevent her from killing the woman in retaliation.
- She slams the SMW audience and southern wrestling fans in general:
In the hills of Kentucky, you’d be lucky if the entire front row would make up one complete set of teeth. And it was blatantly obvious that there was quite a bit of “brotherly lovin’” going on up in those hills. Incest was running rampant with the amount of deformities you’d see. One woman had no corneas or pupils in her eyes, her skin was purple, and she had three club-like stumps on each hand instead of five fingers. One man in Hazard, Kentucky, thought he was a dog and barked the entire
night. There’s some crazy shit you see up in those hills!

- She started an angle with Tony Anthony's wife, known as "Lil Kim". Kim was jealous of Tammy's success in the biz.
What she was too stupid to understand that there was no way she could play my role, because she had been known in that area for a couple of years as Tony’s regular valet in the USWA and the independents. And Tony was too thick in the skull to be able to explain that to her.
- If only everyone were as bright as the 4.0 GPA pre-med student.
- Lil Kim's jealousy led to her potatoing Tammy every time they worked together. This leads to Tammy demanded Corny fire Kim or else she would quit. "God knew he didn’t want to lose his money maker, his number-one heel, Tammy Fytch."
- The blow off to the feud was a match where the loser, scheduled to be Tammy, would have to strip before the audience.
"Luckily for me, I have creativity coming out of every pore, so I cooked up a plan to get stripped “naked” in front of the fans without them seeing even one speck of skin."
- My dear lord.
- She goes on to describe some convoluted match finish that was so poorly written and boring that it went over my head. However, she describes the outcome as the following:
There. Done. Match won by the Dirty White Girl. Fans happy I got “stripped” naked. Even though they never saw a thing, they thought they did, and that’s all that mattered. Stupid hillbillies. They’d fall for anything.
- Despite her run being scheduled to be just six months long with her going back to college after, she was just too good to stop at that point.

Chapter Five
- Her daddy dies. On the bright side, she took it so hard that she was able to get a script for 20 Valium, which she describes taking.
- That's the whole fucking chapter. Her daddy died. Where's the Boss Man when you need him?

Chapter Six
- Bruce Prichard calls their apartment. Tammy hands the phone to Chris when Prichard tells her, no actually we're calling for you. Ouch. Like Randy Savage once told Lance Storm, never bring your old lady into the business. Stamford wanted her to audition.
- She says yes and that afterward, she and Chris 'jumped for joy'. I find it very hard to believe that Chris would be jumping for joy at that moment.
- They audition her by having her read off a teleprompter, which she does not do very well. She assumes she has blown her chance at the big time.
- Tracy Smothers pulls a Charlie Haas and bumps Tammy off of the ring apron, breaking her hand in the process.
"New Jack, of The Gangstas, saw the look on my face and somehow knew I was going into shock, which wouldn’t be good. A person can easily slip into a coma if they pass out from shock."
- She's dramatizing her BROKEN HAND by claiming she was at risk of falling into a coma. Okie-doke.
- Despite the setback of this potential life-ending injury, her spirits are lifted when Prichard calls her back after all and wants her to start ASAP.
- She was supposed to host the Live Event News segments under the name 'Tamara Murphy'. Did this ever happen?
- Vince took an instant liking to her, sitting in on her filming from time to time. You don't say...
- Vince hated her southern accent, which she had picked up from working SMW. Oh Vince and his infatuation with the South...
- Stan Lane would hit on her when both were filming segments in Stamford.

Chapter 8
- She says they were invited to Mania 12 to sign their contracts with the WWE, but she must mean 11.

Chapter 9
- Furthering the incorrect numbering issue, now she says that, "At WrestleMania XXII, the Body Donns were scheduled for a match." Twenty-two.
- She becomes the most downloaded woman on the internet. Not a lot to say about it. Playboy makes her an offer which she declines.
- She talks of getting slopped by the Godwinns. Contrary to rumors, none of the boys pissed or shit in the slop, she kept it in her locker until before the segment.

Chapter 12
I'm not skipping chapters, there's just literally nothing interesting in them.
- When ask to manage Farooq, they were to be a couple. She turned this idea down, not wanting to kiss him on screen despte in the previous chapter talking about having to kiss Billy Gunn. Despite the inconsistency, she proclaims "I'm not racist in the least bit".

Chapter 13
- She and Chris' relationship is a bit rocky, and she is still in love with Shawn from when she was 13.
- HBK and her kiss in the ring for some sort of an angle on TV.
It was a hot, hot kiss. Call me crazy, but I felt sparks during that kiss. OK, I felt friggin’ fireworks! I mean, come on! It was the “Heartbreak Kid,” for cryin’ out loud! The most beautiful man I ever saw!
- Poor Chris.
- Next is a story Tammy has told before. Standing backstage at TV, Shawn comes up behind her and says, "Do you feel that". I'll let Tammy finish.
"The “that” he was referring to was his hard dick pressed firmly up against my ass. Oh yes, I felt it all right. Good and hard. Instantly, I was turned on. I was moist. What red-blooded American girl wouldn’t have been when the “Heartbreak Kid” pushes his erection up against you and gives you chills with his breath?"
- They fuck. Everywhere, supposedly. 4 times a day was not uncommon. Okay.
- Despite this, she was still traveling with Candido. She didn't see any reason to upset him and tell him about Shawn.
- She and HBK get closer after the Syracuse incident.
- They go to Jamaica together. They have sex everywhere. Ten times a day. I call bullshit.
- Bizarre Shawn Michaels fetish:
He liked to bend me over the bathroom counter and watch as he did me from behind, while I was applying ruby red lipstick, over and over again, just applying thick coats until I looked like the Joker from Batman. I never really understood what he got out of it, but it turned him on something fierce and got him rock hard.
- Shawn breaks it off with her because she was still living with Candido. She then pathetically ponders what life might be like had she taken up HBK on his offer to move in with him in his new house in San Antonio.
- She says her and Candido never once spoke about Shawn Michaels.
- She says she thinks he knew about her affair, but that he loved her so much that he was happy for her. Ooookay.

Chapter 14
- She says that Shawn hated the fact that she was friends with Bret Hart.
- Bret did kiss her, once, but that was it.
- Oy vey. Tammy describes Montreal. She, of course, has a crazy theory that it was all a work.
- I'll humor her stupid theory. She thinks the screwjob itself was a work to protect all parties involved from looking bad. She thinks a few minutes is not long enough for a black eye to develop, which Vince had after Bret punched him. Bret is left handed(she says, confirm?), and so if he were left handed, he would have blackened Vince's right eye, not his left.

Chapter 15
- She was given an expense account back when she was just hosting shows. She openly flaunts abusing said expense account, even buying stuff for Candido and other guys and it never being questioned.

Chapter 16
- Shawn or Davey Boy gave her her first pill, a soma.
- She first went down to Tijuana with Spicolli, who showed her how to buy pills down there.
- She mentions her first time buying 1000 Vicodin, 1000 Percs, 3000 Somas, 2000 Xanax, 2000 Valium, 500 Rohypnol, and some steroids.
- She really doesn't cop to ever getting high herself, and claims to have stopped taking pills in 2003.

Chapter 17
- She talks about Sable. Sable was rude to her on her first night in the company and since they're catty bitches, they were life long enemies after that.
- Honestly she doesn't even present a good case for why she and Sable had heat. She laughs at the story of someone pooping in Sable's bag. That's funny considering the story Paul Bearer told about Sunny's Chinese food.

Chapter 19
- She goes to ECW, where she claims Paul promised to pay her 20,000 more than she was making in the WWF. Sounds dubious.
- Her and Chris were in charge of Air fare for the boys, and every month would rack up 30 grand on their AmEx that Paul would reimburse.
- Out of the blue, she claims, Paul suspended them for their pill problem. She claims they had no problem. Paul continued to rack up Air fare charges on their card despite them being suspended, failing to reimburse them this time, racking up 175k in charges.
- Chris and Tammy decided to go to WCW but Paul blocks them. He only releases them when they agree to pay the 175k bill, which they agree to. This story doesnt make a whole lot of sense. After that, AmEx sued Chris and Tammy to the point that they were broke and had to sell their new home.
- She hates Paul Heyman and would dance on his grave if he died tomorrow.

Chapter 21
- In WCW. She slams Russo and Bischoff for not knowing what they were doing.
- She brings up the incident where someone found a needle in the women's dressing room. Kimberly Page found it and blamed it on Tammy. Tammy reiterates her story of NEVER having done recreational drugs. Just pills. I guess those aren't recreational. WCW fires them both despite Tammy producing a clean drug test.

Chapter 22
- Chris takes a gig with New Japan. Alone and depressed, Tammy starts drinking. A gallon of scotch a day for 6 days. This gave her Pancreatitis and almost killed her. I don't think a mere 6 days of drinking causes Pancreatitis.

Chapter 24
- She says that her Pancreatitis is what led to her gaining weight. So she resented wrestling journalists claiming she let herself go, when she had a legit medical problem. Isn't it kind of the same thing when the medical problem is caused by something you did? I guess not.
- The mean things said about her weight online led to her throwing away her computer and not leaving the house.
- Candido gets a job in TNA and promptly breaks his ankle.
- She doesn't say much about his death, just that he woke up one morning barely able to breathe, was taken to the hospital, and died.
- She slams Candido's parents for being selfish for cremating him.
- At the funeral, Chris' mother came up to her and said, “This is all your fault. You could have prevented this if you got him to the hospital sooner. This should have been you, not my son.”

Chapter 25
- A few months after Chris dies she meets a new boyfriend. Gets his named tattooed on her after 2 weeks of knowing him. Oops.
- She gets asked to do the Hall of Fame. She spends 5 times as much time talking about this than she did Candido's death. Her boyfriend asks her to marry him backstage at the HOF.

Chapter 26
- A whole chapter of backstage ribs. Alright. She claims that she came up with the name Triple H. Alright. Not sure how that is a rib.
- She says that while Marc Mero was out with his knee injury, Sable was traveling with and fucking Shamrock. Again, not a rib.
- She was the first wrestler besides Hulk Hogan to be featured on mainstream TV programs. She was even called the female Hulk Hogan. Not a rib. And total bullshit.

Chapter 28
- She breaks up with her fiance after the HOF. Doesn't say why.
- She starts drinking again, for reasons unknown. Well, one might say because she's an alcoholic but she refuses to admit that.
- She went to Hazelden for 2 weeks but brags about being drunk every day there.

Chapter 29
- A whole chapter dedicated to bashing Damien Darling.
- She was once again in love after talking to him for 5 days.
- He had a very attractive penis. The more you know...
- He tells her than his roommate is his ex girlfriend. This pisses Tammy off, and causes her to drink.
- She calls up WWE and gets put in a beautiful rehab.

Chapter 31
- She finds out Damien has been fucking his ex.
- She finds him in his car snorting some Percs. This pisses her off because she's 'not a drug addict'. Okay.
- They have a fight and she chokes him out. When he woke up he called 911.
- This started her arrest marathon. Just pathetic.

Chapter 33, 34
- Another bible quote.
- Despite going to jail 5 times and another 3 month rehab, when Damien asks her to marry him, she says yes.
- She says they were even trying to get pregnant. Jesus.
- She relapses again, just because he said hello to his ex's mother and sister. When he comes home to her drunk, he beats her up and he rapes her. Yup. Rape allegations.
- She again says that he was the cause of her drinking, not her.

Chapter 35
- She seemingly is just fluffing this book to make it appear longer by now including some of her daily journals she kept in jail. They're completely uninteresting.

Chapter 36
- Tammy's battle with cancer.
- She blames the cancer on Damien, for giving her HPV. Yup. What a horrible person.
- This book is oddly written, as she is now speaking in the present tense, as if this is more of a livejournal or a blog.
- What has she done to deserve cancer, she asks. She's been a good and generous person her whole life. Hah!

Chapter 37
- Out of jail and cancer free, what is a girl to do? Oh I know, diddle yourself on camera on the internet.
- She thinks she invented this idea and really feels like a genius for it.
- She won't say what she makes from Skype but that it's DOUBLE what the WWE used to pay her when she was on the road. I wonder if the IRS knows that.
- Says it took 13 hours to film her porn. God, I would pay glorious sums of money to see the 12 hours they had to cut.

Epilogue
- It took 6 years to write this book. Seriously? It took me maybe an hour to read it.

Honestly, besides Bret kissing her once, and Shawn Michaels' bizarre fetish, there is nothing knew in this book that hasn't been told in her countless shoot interviews, despite promising that she 'poured her heart out' in this book. This is a big ol' pile of shit, book wise. Again, it reads more like a blog. I can't imagine what took 6 years to write this horrible dreck.  Dave Meltzer wrote a more in-depth piece regarding the career and ending thereof of Daniel Bryan's career in five hours than Tammy did in six years.  And I don't even include the various spelling, grammar, and historical errors throughout the book.

    1. Oh okay, thanks for the confirmation. Pretty creepy but I guess 17 is a step up for the King.
